Executing UML Models

چکیده
Software development evolution is a history of permanent seeks for raising the abstraction level to new limits overcoming new frontiers. Executable UML (xUML) comes this way as the expectation to achieve the next level in abstraction, offering the capability of deploying a xUML model in a variety of software environments and platforms without any changes. This paper comes as a first expedition inside xUML, exploring the main aspects of its specification including the action languages support and the fundamental MDA compliance. In this paper is presented a future new xUML tool called XIS-xModels that gives Microsoft Visio new capabilities of running and debugging xUML models. This paper is an outline of the capabilities and main features of the future application.

Testing of UML Activity Diagrams
In model-driven development, modeling languages provide the means for software development on a higher level of abstraction than traditional general purpose languages. However, compared to general purpose languages, these modeling languages often lack the proper tool support, such as tools for debugging and testing. Especially testing is essential to achieve a high quality of the final software...
متن کاملUSE: A UML-based specification environment for validating UML and OCL
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is accepted today as an important standard for developing software. UML tools however provide little support for validating and checking models in early development phases. There is also no substantial support for the Object Constraint Language (OCL). We present an approach for the validation of UML models and OCL constraints based on animation and certificat...
متن کاملAspect Oriented UML to ECORE Model Transformation
With the emerging concept of model transformation, information can be extracted from one or more source models to produce the target models. The conversion of these models can be done automatically with specific transformation languages. This conversion requires mapping between both models with the help of dynamic hash tables. Hash tables store reference links between the elements of the source...
متن کاملModel Development in the UML-based Specification Environment (USE)
The tool USE (UML-based Specification Environment) supports analysts, designers, and developers in executing UML models and checking OCL constraints and thus enables them to employ model-driven techniques for software production. USE has been developed since 1998 at the University of Bremen. This paper will shortly discuss to what extent and how USE relates to the selected questions and topics ...
متن کاملFormally Modeling, Executing, and Testing Service-Oriented Systems with UML and OCL
One of the issues that developers of service-oriented systems currently discuss is the lack of practical, but formal modeling notations and tools that can address the many different, important aspects. This paper presents an approach to model structural and behavioral properties of service-oriented systems with UML and OCL models. Essential service-oriented concepts as service request, service ...
